If you're going to upgrade a few years down the line, the Z390 will be almost as obsolete as the Z370 by that stage, so very likely you'd be moving to a new platform anyway. Basically, unless you intend to upgrade the CPU relatively soon, it's kind of pointless going Z390. Performance is likely not going to be noticeable at all for running at spec, so if you're budget is a little tight, stick with the Z370, particularly if the new BIOS has made it compatible with the 9000 series CPU (but again, research it to be sure for the Strix model). The Z390 has additional power, but (a) I think that also is only on the Maximus, and (b) irrelevant if you're not heavily overclocking. The difference is probably about $20 between the two? The Z390 has a m.2 heatsink for the lower m.2, the Z370 didn't (from memory), but that's not really worth the $20 extra lol. Both the Maximus boards are solid boards for sure. and I used to have the Maximus X Hero Z370 on an earlier build last year :) If you think you may upgrade the CPU in the not too distant future, then you could go for the Z390, however I believe the newest Z370 BIOS will support the 9000 series CPU anyway, at least for the Maximus X boards, not sure about the Strix - best check that out. Advice? I just want the best to last for years to come. I just need an upgrade since my i5 3570k is lagging behind and I have an Ivy Bridge system that is seven years old.

For now, I cannot afford a monitor but I gotta get by what I get. I found a monitor that supports 60hz to 100,1p.
#Winzip with asus rog strix z370 1080p
I will be running 16gb 3000mhz on this and a 1080p 60hz but likely upgrading to 1440p or 120hz. Moot point I just wanna squeeze the best performance and not be picky about it? Thoughts? Advice? Is there a difference between those? I am not here to overclock it because it runs flawless but I'd like to though but I would need expert help to do that because I am still sketchy with overclocking experience.

However, I am getting mixed information and reviews saying that the z390 wouldn't be any PC gaming performance if I rely on the z390 when I can use the i7 8700k on the z370. I know everyone says that the z370 is cheaper but the thing is I want the z390 in case I wanna upgrade later down the road without having to waste money for a new motherboard.
